NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A mid-state mother is trying to find out more about a dog she said bit her six-year-old son inside a local home improvement store before the dog's owner abruptly left with the dog.

Amy Thompson said it happened Saturday night at the Home Depot near the Hundred Oaks mall, when her son went to pet the white German shepherd.

After biting her son, Amy said the dog and its owner bolted out of the store, without ever telling her if the dog was up to date on its vaccinations.

As a precaution, she took her son to the hospital to get rabies vaccinations, and he will have to get several more over the next couple weeks -- unless Amy can find out about the dog she said bit her son.

'We ended up spending many hours at Vandy last night,' she said. 'They had to clean his face and get five rabies shots in the face.'

Store managers told Amy they do allow dogs in the Home Depot because the store doesn't sell food.

NewsChannel 5 contacted the store for comment, and managers told us an investigation was ongoing, but they couldn't comment until it was complete.
