Lowe's Cos. is partnering with a home-improvement network company to connect the store's customers with local professionals, according to a news release.
Seattle-based Porch, established in 2012, gathers local home improvement data from more than 1.5 million professionals and 90 million projects, the company said. It has partnered with Lowe's and is introducing its network in 139 North Carolina, S.C. and Seattle area stores. Twenty-one stores in South Carolina will have access to the Porch network.

Lowe's employees will be able to help customers connect to professionals - such as handymen, painters, plumbers, interior designers, electricians and landscapers - that are not currently available through the store's installation program. Porch's network will be accessible on mobile devices and in-store terminals, Lowe's said.
'By partnering with Porch, Lowe's can help our customers achieve their home improvement dreams by providing them with the confidence of knowing who their neighbors have used successfully and benefit our professional customers by providing them greater opportunities to grow their businesses,' Jay Rebello, vice president for new business development and corporation innovation at Lowe's, said in a statement.
Lowe's pro customers may join the Porch network for free, and a premium pro membership is available.
Matt Ehrlichman, CEO of Porch, said finding the right professionals should be easy.
'Lowe's customers can not only buy high-quality products to make their home improvement projects a reality, they can connect directly with local professionals their neighbors have used,' Ehrlichman said in a statement. 'With the complement of services Porch and Lowe's will deliver in 2014, there has never been a better time to love your home.'
