The cold weather not only has people running out for the essentials like milk, eggs, and bread, but have them also doing all they can to stay warm.
'It's been crazy, soon as we open up they been coming in and getting the faucet covers, the pipe insulation..all the heaters, all you see back there is all we have left,' said Perlania Green, Pro Cashier for The Home Depot.
The frigid temps have left shelves bare at stores like The Home Depot. Associates say, it's the price they pay so that customers can keep their homes better heated.
While out shopping customers should try to buy items to keep the cold air from coming in and to take preventative measures.
'Best thing to do is going to be to seal up holes, I mean literally holes between window frames and things like that, things you might expect,' explained Marque Lintvedt, Design Consultant for The Home Depot.
There are some things customers don't take in consideration.
'There's a lot of air that comes through outlets, put you hand in front of an outlet on a windy day you'll usually feel a breeze there,' said lLntvedt.
You can save money when you take care of your water heater.
Experts say if your water heater is warm to the touch, insulate it. While customers come in to prevent and stay warm, workers are also doing the same.
'Every time that door open, it's...I got my own little personal heater back her,' said Green.
